Some new research has just emerged from the University of Alberta in Canada, where they proved that resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, can benefit our health in a way that’s similar to the benefits of working out. According to lead researcher, Jason Dyck, what they have found out about red wine could actually improve the lives of people who are unable to exercise. It seems that high doses of resveratrol was proven to mimic physical exercise, thereby improving heart function and muscle strength just as a gym session would. Resveratrol is a natural phenol found in the skin of grapes. This ingredient, as the Central European Journal of Urology states has many health benefits, one of which is its antioxidant properties.
However, don’t toss that elliptical out just yet!!. These are still recent findings, and the researchers conducted their tests on rats.
There is much documentation available about the health benefits of red wine as well as studies that show how a glass of wine per day can help us avoid developing dementia or cancer. A glass of red wine is also beneficial for our hearts, it can prevent us looking old too soon and it can regulate blood sugar. In terms of moderate red wine consumption, there are several other benefits involved, including a reduction in the risk of inflammation and blood clotting. If you are feeling like the red wine is too much, one can eat blueberries, peanut butter, red grapes and dark chocolate for more resveratrol. In fact, it is probably best if you do not get all of your resveratrol intake from a wine bottle. In addition to being expensive (and irresponsible in excess), it would lead to an extremely imbalanced diet. Besidesyou would need to go through several bottles of red wine a day to get the amount of resveratrol that would maximize the benefits.
