While sitting at home just the other day, I was pondering life before, and life after, lock down, as one does (quite a lot these days!!).  And as I sat and dreamt a little, my thoughts inevitably tended to lead towards superb food and premium wine…. and how really good it would be to go out and eat a delectable meal, while sipping a glass of wine that slides smoothly over your palate, looking out at an exquisite view….. get the picture???

And as I pondered, I was thinking of some the beautiful places we have in Cape Town where the focus on so completely on the customer experience. One such a group is The Kove Collection who describe themselves like this….:” Our vibrant restaurants, hotels and bars have all been created with our definition of outstanding hospitality at heart – To constantly evolve the sights, flavours, scents and sounds in every venue, to bring excellence to every facet of what we do and to promise our guests that the experiences we create for them are unlike any other. Which is why whenever you see our signature K symbol you’ll know you’re about to enjoy something special.”

So I decided to have a chat with Martinique Morkel, the Operations Assistant for The Kove Collection.  We wanted to create a deeper understanding of their approach to their wine by the glass offering… because we believe, that the particular detail that goes into the compiling of a superior wine by the glass wine list is an absolute necessity, if you are wanting to create a truly specialised experience for your customers, as they do.

Martinique explained that there are fourteen restaurants in The Kove Collection, situated in Camps Bay, Clifton, Mouillie Point, the V&A Waterfront and Constantia.  You will recognise the names of these restaurants in the group: The Marly, Baptiste, Blanko, Incognito, Surf Shack, Le Belle, Bilboa, Chinchilla, Bob’s, The Bungalow, Lily’s, Paranga, ZenZero and Firefish.  All situated in beautiful settings in Cape Town. Of those fourteen restaurants eight of them have Le Verre de Vin wine preservation systems.

Martinique then went on to explain that the reason why they decided to install Le Verre de Vin wine preservation systems was because that wanted to ensure that their wines, MCC and Champagnes well properly preserved.   They find that not all wines that are offered by the glass are fast movers and that having a Le Verre de Vin wine preservation systems prevents the wastage of these premium wines.  This means that their wine losses are minimized.

Martinique also said that with having a Le Verre de Vin system in place means that they can be highly selective in determining their wine by the glass list, as this wine preservation system keeps each opened bottle as fresh as if it had just been opened.

On chatting to Martinique about their clientele’s expectations around wine, she feels that clients expect a premium wine by the glass list.  People like different wines and many people don’t want to order or drink a full bottle of wine, if each person has a different taste in wine.    She also finds that the trend for Champagne, MCC and Bubblies by the glass has grown substantially over the years, so it was essential that their wine preservation system preserves these too, which the Le Verre De Vin systems support with ease.

All round, The Kove Collection are a really pleased with their Le Verre de Vin wine preservation solution.  The staff find it really easy to use (it preserves in seconds) and the after sales service has always been very good!

We look forward to creating delicious memories at The Kove Collection’s beautiful restaurants when this lock down is over!  Thanks Martinique for taking the time to chat to us.
